As we continue to take precautions against contracting and potentially spreading the COVID-19 virus, we are not singing or humming at Masses. However, we now have a very large virtual choir that can accept new members anytime and from literally anywhere in the world!
Each week, the choirs and instrumentalists of St. Catherine's and the Church of the Transfiguration record themselves for songs that will be used for Masses at both churches. Though it sounds scary and maybe a little overwhelming, it's not that bad! You will need a connection to the internet to access the "cue mixes" and then a separate device to record yourself singing or playing. After this, one of our wonderful choir volunteers mixes all of the separate tracks into one big, beautiful song! (#musicalmagic)
Also, since we truly miss getting to see our choir folks in person, the St. Catherine's group has been meeting nearly every week on Wednesday evenings via Zoom. This is a social time, catching up on life and sharing prayer concerns. The pandemic has changed many aspects of our life, but not this core connection within our musical family!
Please do contact Pam McInerney for more info on how to join the fun, there's no limit to the number of voices and instruments we can accommodate! We will soon begin recordng music for Lent and Holy Week, if you can believe it - we hope you will join us! : )
