be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire."

As originator and coordinator of the Holiday Food & Gift Appeal, Phyllis was not hindered by the obstacles and limitations of a global pandemic. Instead, she boldly and creatively devised plans that allowed parishioners to participate in each holiday appeal, but in an efficient and contactless way. Most importantly, due to Phyllis’ planning and coordination, our local families (mostly from the HF-Lima-Mendon area) were able to safely receive some much-needed relief at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Phyllis has really elevated this program to “star status.” On a separate note, include “seamstress” as another talent of Phyllis’. We witnessed the inventory of about 200 masks, using a myriad of fabrics to create very playful face masks for donation.
Thank you, Phyllis, for showing us that nothing is impossible. You are our shining star.
With Gratitude,
Social Justice Ministry
Throughout the pandemic, June has made countless face masks for both Catholic Charities as well as Thompson Hospital. Her special gift has helped so many to stay safe and be protected. Thanks, June, for being a shining light in these uncertain times.

Every parish should have a “Sally,” a person who jumps to action when she detects the inkling of an unfilled need. Already this year, Sally has received two Star Lights…one for coordinating and making face masks and a second for delivering donations to Matthew’s Closet. Three times must be the charm, because after hearing a small tidbit about the need to raise funds and awareness for The Good Samaritan Fund, Sally developed and operated the six-week Can & Bottle Drive. It was quite a successful idea and campaign! Sally, you are a gift to all of us at St. Catherine’s and a true example of a Star Light.
Gratefully,
Social Justice Ministry
P.S. Thanks to Sally, the Drive actually continues year-round. Just take your empties to the redemption center and tell them it’s for St. Catherine’s GSF.
