RUN

• have an escape route and plan in mind
• leave your belongings behind
• keep hands visible

HIDE

• hide in an area out of the shooter's view
• block entry to your hiding place and lock the doors
• silence your cell phone

FIGHT

• as a last resort, only when life is in immeinent danger
• attempt to incapacitate the shooter
• act with physical aggression

CALL 9-1-1 ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SAFE AND OUT OF VIEW OF THE SHOOTER

If you are caught by the intruder/shooter and are not going to fight back, follow their directions and don't look them in the eyes.

Committee & Ministry Meetings:

• lock doors (entrance door and room you are meeting in) once meeting has started
• provide a cell phone number to all members in case people are running late. 

Religious Ed & Youth Group

• Lock Out (threat is outside of building)

1. cover and lock windows to the outside
2. gather students under the windows

• Lock Down (threat is inside the building)

1. lock the classroom door
2. cover classroom door window to hallways in possible
3. gather students in the corner on the same side of the wall as the door

If you are able to safely get out of the building proceed to the baseball field until safe to assemble at the basketball courts and wait for Law Enforcement to arrive. 

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GET IN YOUR CARE AND LEAVE, you may be mistaken by law enforcement as the shooter.

When Law Enforcement Arrives

• remain calm and follow law enforcement instructions
• put down any items in your hands (bags, jackets, etc.)
• avoid points, screaming, and/or yelling
• immediatly raise hands and spread fingers
• avoid making movements towards officers as attempting to hold on to them for safety.
• do not stop to ask officers for help or directions when evacuating
• provide location and physical characteristics of shooter
• provide location of victims

active shootings are unpredictable; evolve quickly; often over within 10-15 minutes before law enforcement arrives and victims are selected at random.
