I would like to nominate Scott Tubbs and Kathy Goldbach for a Star Light award. A couple weekends ago, we received almost four inches of rain in 24 hours. As a result, three large trees uprooted and landed on the lawn and the fire pit at the rear of the church. I spoke to Scott and he said that he would cut them up for fire wood and clean up the area. Kathy said she would help and they both spent many hours cutting and clearing the trees and limbs off the lawn areas. Within the week after the storm, the grass area and the fire pit area were cleared of all the debris and raked clean. You would never know there were large trees uprooted there. This job would have cost our parish a lot of money to remove these trees.
This is stewardship in action and both of these stewards deserve a big thank you.
Gratefully,
Bob Goldbach
I would like to nominate Steve Carey for a Star Light award. Steve has many talents and being a professional painter is one of them. The trim and columns on the front of the church were in need of minor repairs and painting. This was discussed at our last Buildings & Grounds meeting of which Steve is a member. He said that he would do the job instead of hiring a contractor and save the parish the cost. He spent many hours cleaning, repairing some cracks in the columns, and caulking where needed. He applied two coats of paint and the results look great. He not only did the job, but also donated all the materials to do it.
Steve is a great example of Stewardship in action. Thank you, Steve, for sharing your time, talent and treasure.
With gratitude,
Bob Goldbach
Time and again we look up and see familiar stars in the wonder of our galaxy. Steve Carey is one of the stars that is ever before our faith community! Steve restored our columns and doors before the entrances of the church and chapel. No surprise, they look spectacular and make for a very warm welcome to all who approach these entrances of our faith community. They proclaim, “Welcome. We are glad you are here!”
Thank you, Steve, for your fabulous stewardship! We are so blessed to have your generosity, stewardship, talent and presence at Saint Catherine of Siena!
Blessings and love to you always,
Father Rob
Over the years, Bob has been witness to many good deeds of stewardship at St. Catherine’s. He has taken the time to acknowledge these deeds by writing Star Light awards for many deserving parishioners. However, it will come as no surprise that in most cases, he is not only a witness but also an active participant, side by side, with the good stewards he writes about. He just never mentions that fact.
Bob, your vast contributions, dedication and knowledgeable insights go far beyond a Star Light award. In our universe, you are the Milky Way, providing a band of light filled with billions of stars. THANK YOU for your unending support, dedication and light you provide to all of us at St. Catherine of Siena.
With gratitude,
Karen Zielinski
