The Social Outreach ministry reaches out to help those in need not just in the parish community, but the public community as well.

St. Martin's Place

spacerThe parishioners at St. Catherine reach out to St. Martin's Place at 55 Ontario Street. St. Martin's is a place of hospitality for the neighborhood people, serving a hot lunch of week days.

spacerThey also offer counseling, a pre-school program, a weekly writing workshop, advocacy when needed and NA meetings.

spacerAnyone interested in volunteering, please call St. Martin's at 325-6500, or Marion Tucker at 924-2607.

 

RAIHNRAIHN.

spacerRAIHN stands for Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network and is a local chapter of the national IHN. In conjunction with St. Louis and Transfiguration Churches, we are providing support for temporarily homeless families. For more information on RAIHN, check out their web page.

Matthews' Closet

MatthewsClosetspacerSt. Catherine’s partners with Matthew’s Closet, an outreach of Our Lady of the Americas Parish in Rochester, by providing gently used clothing and linens donated to our Collection Box which is located in the Church parking lot.  Matthew’s Closet provides clothing, linens and miscellaneous household goods free of charge to clients referred by over 100 agencies in the Rochester area.  It is also functions as a thrift shop selling items at nominal cost which helps pay for their expenses.

spacerSt. Catherine’s Matthew’s Closet Ministry is a very active and is the largest source of donated items for Matthew’s Closet.  Volunteer families and individuals empty the Collection Box and transport donated items weekly or as needed. Our ministry also collects house wares twice a year and transports them to Matthew’s Closet.
