What IS Star Lights?
Star Lights is a recognition program that gives parishioners an opportunity to publicly recognize the kind words and actions of their fellow parishioners. The actions of Star Lights recipients serve as wonderful examples to us all of living a life of stewardship.
The program was created and initiated by the Stewardship Committee of St. Catherine’s in January 2004. Anyone can write a Star Lights to express gratitude for kindnesses received or observed, whether the actions take place at church, home, school, work or in the community. Each Star Lights recipient receives a personal copy of the recognition that was written by their fellow parishioner, along with a cover letter. To commemorate the recognition, each Star Lights is featured on the church bulletin board and in the parish newsletter. Annually in January, all recipients of the past year are honored at a special Blessing Mass, where a candle is given as a symbol of light for the gifts each recipient has shared with others. See the cumulative list of past Star Lights.
Do you know someone who is a Star Light? We encourage YOU to write a Star Light to recognize a kindness received or observed, no matter how big or small. Nominations can be written using the nomination form found on this website, or via letter that can be sent using email, mail or the collection basket.
